Data Quality Management Process

ATHANOR provides the complete solution for dealing with Data Quality issues through a five-stage Data Quality management process.

Data Quality audit:

An initial Data Quality audit measures the level and nature of Data Quality problems in multiple data sources. ATHANOR generates detailed audit reports identifying, quantifying and categorizing actual and potential Data Quality issues based on generic and user-defined business rules.

Step one of the ATHANOR Data Quality process goes much further than any other data profiling tool, analysing the content of description data fields. ATHANOR profiling provides detailed analysis of your organization's data based on the six key measures of Data Quality: completeness; conformity; consistency; accuracy; duplication and integrity. Once specific Data Quality issues have been identified and measured a data analyst can use ATHANOR's drag and drop components to define rules for data cleansing and set quality targets for output data.

Data Quality enhancement plans:

ATHANOR enables easy configuration of highly customized rule-sets to standardize and enhance all master data types such as materials data, customer data, asset codes and vendor data. Being able to quickly build and test Data Quality enhancement plans at this stage of the process significantly reduces the time it takes to implement the required data transformation. A process that previously could have taken weeks can now be completed in a matter of days. These rule-sets are represented graphically and as such are easy to understand, re-use and modify.

Deployment:

The same reusable Data Quality plans are applied for once-off enhancement of the data source or are deployed for periodic correction of batch and real-time updates. In this way ATHANOR ensures that Data Quality levels are maintained on an ongoing basis. Users can optimize the balance between manual and automated data correction.

Data Quality reports & tracking:

ATHANOR produces high-level management reports and record level drilldown views to monitor Data Quality improvement over time and against targets. These reports are used to build a Data Quality scorecard, which feeds back into the Data Quality management process. The Data Quality scorecard is a framework for continuous improvement of Data Quality. Output from the scorecard can be loaded into third party reporting tools providing company-wide intelligence, identifying and tracking issues that have a direct impact on business.

The Data Quality plans drive automated Data Quality analysis, reporting, cleansing and transformation through ATHANOR Runtime or ATHANOR Realtime. ATHANOR Designer is also available as a standalone desktop product that can be used for one-off data-cleansing projects.

ATHANOR RUNTIME:

ATHANOR Runtime is a scalable, high performance data processing engine designed for easy integration at one or multiple points within a company's information systems. ATHANOR Runtime enables companies to deploy customized Data Quality analysis and enhancement processes as a scheduled or automated batch process.

ATHANOR REALTIME:

ATHANOR Realtime™ is a set of APIs used to deploy Data Quality plans, built in ATHANOR Designer for real-time validation and correction of data. Realtime is intended to prevent low quality data entering a database by identifying and correcting Data Quality problems at data collection points. Technical Requirements ATHANOR can accept data from multiple sources including, delimited or fixed width files or directly from Oracle, DB2, SQLServer or any ODBC compatible database.
