ESB
Uses Data Mining to Improve Customer Service
January
9 2002
Habaca,
Dublin based data mining and analytical CRM consultants, announced
today that it will be assisting ESB Customer Supply to develop its
understanding of its customer service needs, using leading edge
data mining technology.
John
Byrne (Manager, Research and Business Development) explained this
new step.
"ESB is continually improving its understanding of its customers'
needs in relation to service. With such a large customer base, spread
across so many different segments, these can be particularly diverse
and complex. It is our hope that data mining will be an important
tool, not only to help us identify more of these needs but the underlying
factors which drive them"
Commenting
on the project, Barry McIntyre, MD Habaca, stated " We are excited
by the prospect of working with the ESB. Data mining is an ideal
way for the company to harness the power of their data in order
to answer their fundamental business questions and better service
the needs and requirements of their different customer types".
SPSS
Clementine Data Mining, supported by Habaca, was selected in a competitive
bidding process, carried out in the autumn of 2001.
John Byrne explained:
"We were looking for an analytical product that would help us deliver
real service benefits to our customers. The SPSS Clementine package,
supported by Habaca, has the capability of making a real contribution"

Habaca
Launches Specialist Data Mining Consultancy
Wednesday,
4 April 2001, Dublin Ireland IRELAND'S
NEW INDEPENDENT DATA MINING AND ANALYSIS COMPANY IS LAUNCHED
Habaca,
Ireland's first independent data analysis company was launched today.
The company will provide data mining and business intelligence services
to Irish businesses. " Habaca's main strength is its ability to
answer fundamental business questions that drive a company forward,
through the analysis of their data. What sets us apart from our
competitors is that we are independent data mining and analytical
CRM experts, we are not tied to one software product. Therefore
we can offer companies a specific solution for their particular
needs. Habaca's advantage lies in our team of skilled analysts who
will not just provide software to analyse data, but will identify
and solve problems for companies and organisations using their existing
in-house data" says Barry McIntyre, Managing Director, Habaca. Originally
established as a reseller of SPSS Data Mining Software, Habaca will
provide highly specialised business intelligence consultancy for
Irish organisations. Customer Relationship Marketing analysis and
data mining will be the focus of Habaca's activities to help companies
better understand and unlock hidden value in their inhouse data.
"We can determine why customers are switching to a competitor, we
can advise what can be done to prevent this, we can uncover patterns
in buyers behaviour and recommend how to build on the most profitable
elements of the business. Many companies and organisations do not
realise that the information they have is extremely valuable and
that they can use it create, maintain and grow profit. Habaca's
services will be most beneficial to these companies" added Mr. McIntyre.
Habaca will offer customers the choice of becoming fully trained
in producing data analysis in-house or hiring consultants to carry
out specific data analysis or CRM projects. The company will be
officially launched at the upcoming E-xpo show in the RDS in May.
Habaca was established by Barry McIntyre to service the exploding
